Eclipse will head back to Ange Bean to continue his training and will come out and compete at THIRD LEVEL this year. As always, it will be in open dressage shows, so he is tested against "the big boys"! Watch his Dressage Journal for updates! VERY exciting!!!
We have an addition to the "girls" -- introducing East-West Statesmans Soleil. She is by Statemans Skyhawk, (who of course is full brother to the dressage champion Statesmans Signature), and out of Arapaho Leah. It was love at first sight of that blond tuft of forelock!! Thank you SO much BJ Morris for selling this special "blond" to me! She will certainly make an impression EVERYWHERE she goes! She is pictured above with her pasture mate Ensigns Easter Joy.
And of course we're looking forward to three babies this year! Our gorgeous Kells Magic in the Heir (aka Sophie) was bred to Eclipse, and she's getting "plump" as of 1 April! Since Sophie's Dad, Spring Hills KLC is black, we're hoping for a black foal, but sorry folks, if its a filly, it will NOT be for sale! Soph and Tootsie are due in mid May. Pompei Blue (aka Tootsie) is also bred to Eclipse and she is HUGE! This foal should be black since both parents are (and Tootsie's mom, Pomador was also)...here's hoping! Last to go will be our beloved Trailhead Lucy (15.3h, the tallest of the girls), and she is bred to Trailhead's beautiful sire, Sidehill Thunder. Since she is carrying a total outside cross, this one might not be for sale either!!
Our plans are to breed our lovely Statesmans Lady Grace, to Primavero Brio of Gabcreek Farm. I had a lovely visit with John and Joyce Hutchinson who own Brio earlier this spring and was lucky to ride one of Brio's three year old daughters out on trail - she is one of THE most sensible three year olds I've ever ridden - and just fell in love with Brio's free and floating movement. I think the cross will be gorgeous, and you guessed it...again...not for sale! We will also breed Lucy to our dear friend BJ Morris' stallion Atavista Statesman (aka Express), who is now some 23 years young!! I had the time of my life riding him for some six hours through the beautiful Appalachian forests of N. GA and fell in love with him all over again. Express has been a friend for at least 20 of his 23 years and it was wonderful to spend time with him again. He is SUCH a fabulous horse and has many accomplishments to his credit - winner of 1990 US CDE pair championship with his half brother Chief of State (another stallion); and he then came back a few years later to win the Single Horse US CDE championship!! I believe he is the only horse to have won both titles!! And yes, this baby will also not be for sale! I'm gonna have to buy a bigger farm!!! :)
